If you're on facebook you are probably aware of this stunt, but if you're not read on. It appears that over 200,000 faceboookers have pledged thier support for a Global Campaign to buy panic buy carrots.
The group is called “On May 15, 2008, everybody needs to go out and panic buy carrots“.

The opposing Facebook group “Don’t add to world hunger, don’t panic-buy carrots” has attracted just 100 members (Looks like everyone wants carrots).
The plan is for all of these members to go out on the day set at 2pm and buy as many carrots as they can. Even though this all started off as a joke it seems to have got the attention of news groups and critics, the critics are saying it is irresponsible to deprive shoppers of the “orangey goodness of everyone’s favourite vegetable”.
Further debate on the site is that what to do with the spare carrots on the following day? Well another Facebook group has sprung up to provide answers. It proposes a day of “taproot-based generosity and carroty philanthropy” - On May 16th 2008, everyone needs to go out and GIVE carrots. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7297488951
